Easy Avocado Hair Conditioner

Living in Arizona has made my hair super duper dry. The heat just sucks all of the moisture right out of it. Add to that, if I get into the pool often then I have to wash my hair more often. This leads to it being even more dry. It's a never-ending cycle!

Look at that crazy dryness!

A few months ago, I found a really easy recipe for Avocado Hair Conditioner. My favorite part--it's all natural. I tried it out, loved it, and now I'm going to share it with you.

What you need:
1 egg
1 avocado
1 tablespoon olive oil

Note: I made sure that my egg and avocado were at room temperature because I'm not a fan of cold stuff in my hair.

Directions:
1. Beat egg in a bowl.

2. Slice and avocado in half, take out the pit, and remove the skin.

3. Mash the avocado and olive oil in the bowl with the egg. Be sure to combine it well.

4. Wet your hair and apply the avocado to your hair in sections. (The pictures below show what your hair will look like once you've put all of the avocado mixture into your hair.)

5. Place a shower cap or grocery bag on your head for 30 minutes or longer.

6. Rinse out the avocado mixture and shampoo and condition your hair as normal. (Unfortunately, I forgot to take an "after" picture before I styled my hair, but I can assure that the results are good!) If you would like to see a video of what the "after" could look like, there's a great tutorial on Youtube.

This is a simple and inexpensive recipe that will leave your hair feeling soft! It's one of my favorite hair recipes!

  1. I love homemade hair stuff! will have to try this out. the only thing i really do to maintain softness in my hair is an apple cider vinegar rinse about once a week. you should try it! make sure to dilute it with water though, like 1 TBS ACV to an entire bottle of water. it does wonders!

    1. I had completely forgotten about that one! It's really good for cleaning out all the product leftover from shampoos. Thanks for the reminder!
